What's the mission of FLC?

Rooted in Christ, Growing in Faith, to Bear Good Fruit

Why this mission?

In Matthew 28, Jesus calls us to "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit..." In Romans 10, we hear "how beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news... for faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ."

Since 1879, First Lutheran Church has proclaimed the Word of God and provided His sacraments with the power to bring new, abundant, eternal life through the forgiveness of sin to those who receive this Word and Sacrament. As we are united to Christ's death through baptism, so are we united to him in his resurrection (Romans 6). Receiving God's grace, we grow in faith, hope, and love as we naturally respond with good fruits of service, compassion and forgiveness for those beside us.
